Hon. Martin Amaewhule has reignited the Rivers State political tension, accusing Governor Siminalayi Fubara of repeatedly violating the peace agreement meant to stabilize governance. Hon. Martin Amaewhule stated, “It’s the Governor (Fubara) who has failed to keep the terms of the agreement. He doesn’t want to, and this is not the first time we have agreed with him and then he failed.”

Hon. Martin explained that the Assembly had exercised patience, hoping the governor would honor the commitments previously reached. Hon. Martin insisted that the governor’s alleged pattern of ignoring agreements undermines institutional harmony and democratic processes.

Hon. Martin emphasized that the crisis has resurfaced because the governor allegedly refuses to respect the legislative arm. Hon. Martin maintained that the breakdown of trust has forced the Assembly to address the matter publicly once again.

Hon. Martin Amaewhule revealed that over ₦600 billion was left in Rivers State’s account by the outgoing administrator who managed the state during the emergency period. Hon.
