The Honourable Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and the Honourable Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, His Excellency Abdullahi Tijani Gwarzo, are poised to launch a landmark housing initiative. The groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of construction on 2,000 additional housing units across eight states in the South and North Central zones of the country. This ambitious project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s housing programme launched in February 2024, aiming to provide affordable housing solutions and stimulate economic growth.

The housing projects are expected to generate approximately 50,000 employment opportunities, comprising both skilled and unskilled labour positions, with an average of 25 jobs created per unit. This significant investment in housing infrastructure will not only address the housing deficit but also contribute to the economic development of the beneficiary states, including Ebonyi, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Osun, Oyo, Benue, and Nasarawa. The successful implementation of this project is anticipated to have a positive impact on the lives of numerous citizens, fostering a sense of hope and prosperity.

Hon. Minister: Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme Expands

The Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme is set to expand its reach to eight states in the South and North Central zones of the country, building on the success of its initial launch in February 2024. The programme has already made significant progress, with the groundbreaking of 1,500 housing units in five states in the north. This expansion will add an additional 2,000 housing units, bringing the total number of units under the programme to 6,612, providing affordable housing solutions to thousands of Nigerians.

Each Renewed Hope Estate is designed to provide comfortable and secure living spaces, with a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom semi-detached bungalows. The estates will comprise 50 units of one-bedroom, 100 units of two-bedroom, and 50 units of three-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, catering to different family sizes and needs. The programme is funded under the 2023 Supplementary Budget of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, demonstrating the government’s commitment to addressing the housing deficit and promoting economic growth.
Housing Projects to Promote Inclusivity and Integration

The Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme is designed to promote inclusivity and integration by providing a wide range of affordable homeownership options, addressing inequalities and making homeownership a reality for low-and-medium-income Nigerians. The programme offers flexible financing options, including single-digit and up to 30-year mortgage loans through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Rent-to-Own options, and Outright Purchase for high-income earners, ensuring that homeownership is within reach for all.

Beyond providing shelter, the housing projects are a significant stimulus for the local economy, creating jobs, supporting livelihoods, and driving economic growth. The construction process alone is expected to generate thousands of employment opportunities, both skilled and unskilled, contributing to the development of the larger economy. By addressing the housing deficit and promoting affordable homeownership, the programme is poised to have a positive impact on the lives of numerous Nigerians, fostering a sense of hope and prosperity.
