Governor Zulum Visits Kwara After Boko Haram Kills Over 170, Emphasizes Faith and Destiny

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has paid a condolence visit to Kwara State following a devastating Boko Haram attack that reportedly claimed the lives of over 170 people. During the visit, Governor Zulum expressed deep sympathy with the victims, their families, and the affected communities, describing the incident as a painful reminder of the human cost of terrorism in Nigeria.

Speaking to grieving residents, the governor emphasized resilience, faith, and unity in the face of tragedy. He noted that while the scale of the violence was heartbreaking, communities must draw strength from shared values and collective resolve to overcome insecurity. His remarks came amid heightened national concern over the resurgence of terrorist activities in parts of the country.

Governor Zulum’s visit attracted traditional rulers, religious leaders, government officials, and security representatives, all of whom joined in mourning the victims. The condolence mission underscored the importance of solidarity among states and leaders as Nigeria continues to confront the threat posed by Boko Haram and other extremist groups.

We Believe in Destiny as Muslims,’ Zulum Tells Grieving Victims

Addressing victims and survivors during the condolence visit, Governor Zulum stated, “We believe in destiny as Muslims,” urging residents to remain steadfast in faith despite the scale of the loss. He explained that faith should not weaken the demand for justice or security but should instead provide strength during moments of profound grief.

The governor stressed that acknowledging destiny does not excuse acts of terror, nor does it diminish the responsibility of government to protect lives. According to him, faith and governance must work hand in hand, with leaders ensuring that citizens are safe while communities find comfort in spiritual resilience.

Religious leaders present at the gathering echoed similar sentiments, calling for prayers for the departed souls and peace for the nation. The atmosphere was solemn as families of the victims listened to words of consolation, many visibly emotional as the magnitude of the tragedy was recounted.

Call for Stronger Security and National Unity Against Terrorism

Beyond offering condolences, Governor Zulum used the occasion to call for stronger and more coordinated security efforts to prevent future attacks. He urged federal and state authorities to intensify intelligence sharing, community engagement, and proactive security operations, warning that terrorism thrives where vigilance is weak.

The governor highlighted the need for national unity in tackling Boko Haram, noting that terrorism does not respect state boundaries. He emphasized that what affects one state today could affect another tomorrow, making collective action and cooperation critical to restoring lasting peace across Nigeria.

Governor Zulum reassured the people of Kwara State that they were not alone in their grief. He pledged continued advocacy for stronger security measures and support for victims of terrorism nationwide, stressing that the sacrifices of those lost must strengthen Nigeria’s resolve to defeat extremism and restore stability.
