Governor Sanwo-Olu have been included Egube, Abayomi, Giwa, and 14 others in a fresh list of nominees for appointment as Commissioners and Special Advisers in Lagos State.

Screening Process Commences for Lagos State House of Assembly Nominees

The Lagos State House of Assembly is set to begin the screening process for these nominees on Tuesday, following an announcement by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa during a plenary session on Monday. The screening committee, led by Fatai Mojeed, has been tasked with conducting a thorough assessment and reporting back to the House on Thursday.

The governor, in a letter titled ‘Forwarding of Official List of Nominees for Appointment as Commissioners and Special Advisers,’ expressed his gratitude to the Speaker and House members for their diligent work in the recent screening and confirmation of 22 nominees. He noted that the new list combines both previously presented and new individuals, aiming for a balanced representation across the political spectrum and diverse backgrounds reflective of the state’s diversity.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s Confidence in New Nominees

The governor expressed confidence that these new nominees would bring fresh perspectives and ideas to contribute to the growth and progress of Lagos. He has urged the House to conduct the necessary screening for clearance.

In addition to the nominee list, the House of Assembly has resolved to review the 2023 budget’s performance in preparation for the governor’s presentation of the 2024 budget estimate. The budget review will be overseen by the Committee led by Hon. Sa’ad Olumo, with the aim of ensuring a thorough evaluation and timely reporting to the House. The House had previously approved a budget of N1.768 trillion for the year 2023.
