Rivers State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dagogo Iboroma (SAN), have publicly endorsed Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, and other distinguished personalities who emerged winners at the South South Media and Entertainment Awards, describing their recognition as well-deserved and symbolic of regional excellence.

Celebrating Excellence in Governance, Sports and Creativity

The South South Media and Entertainment Awards held over the weekend brought together government officials, media professionals, entertainers, and sports figures from across the Niger Delta, creating a platform to celebrate outstanding contributions to public service, media development, and creative industries. The event highlighted individuals whose work has positively shaped public perception and regional identity.

In their goodwill messages, the Rivers State Deputy Governor and the Attorney General commended the organisers for sustaining an awards platform that recognises merit and promotes healthy competition. They noted that such initiatives help project the South South region beyond politics and oil, showcasing its human capital and creative strength.

The endorsement of Governor Siminalayi Fubara was linked to his administration’s emphasis on inclusive governance and stability in Rivers State, while the recognition of Stanley Nwabali was praised as a reflection of the region’s growing influence in national and international sports.

Fubara, Nwabali and Others Take Centre Stage

Governor Fubara, who received one of the major honours of the night, was described by speakers as a leader whose calm approach and policy direction have restored confidence in governance. Award presenters cited his focus on infrastructure, workers’ welfare, and social cohesion as key factors behind the recognition.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, a Rivers State indigene, was also celebrated for his recent performances on the continental stage, which have earned him admiration among football fans nationwide. His award was seen as an inspiration to young athletes in the region, reinforcing the message that global success can emerge from the South South.

Other award recipients included media practitioners, entertainers, and content creators whose work has elevated regional narratives. Collectively, their achievements underscored the diversity of talent present in the Niger Delta.

Endorsements as a Call for Regional Unity

In closing remarks, the Deputy Governor emphasised that the awards should serve as motivation for young people to pursue excellence in their respective fields. She stressed that recognising positive role models helps counter negative stereotypes often associated with the region.

The Attorney General echoed this view, adding that government support for media and creative industries remains crucial for sustainable development. He urged stakeholders to continue using such platforms to promote unity, accountability, and professionalism across sectors.

The South South Media and Entertainment Awards, organisers said, will continue to evolve as a credible platform for celebrating achievement, with plans to expand categories and regional participation in future editions.
