FUTA Celebrates Remarkable Academic Achievements with 33rd Convocation

FUTA Unveiling the Academic Triumphs

In a momentous announcement, the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), proudly reveals that a staggering 195 students have achieved the prestigious first-class Honours in various programs. The revelation came from the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, during a news briefing in Akure, the Ondo State capital, setting the stage for the institution’s 33rd convocation.

Diverse Academic Distinctions

Prof. Oladiji provided a comprehensive breakdown of the graduating class, highlighting the academic diversity within the 3,491 students set to receive their first degrees across nine faculties. Among them, 1,510 students earned second-class honours (upper division), 1,515 secured second-class honours (lower division), while 254 and two students attained third class and pass degrees, respectively. The Vice Chancellor’s announcement underscored the university’s commitment to fostering a broad spectrum of academic excellence.

Spotlight on Excellence – Best Graduating Student

Taking center stage in this academic feat is Miss Oluwanifemi Favour Olajuyigbe, a standout student from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. With an outstanding Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.93, Olajuyigbe emerged as the best graduating student, exemplifying the commitment to academic brilliance at FUTA.

Beyond Undergrad – Postgraduate Achievements

While celebrating undergraduate success, the convocation also marks the conferral of advanced degrees on 1,806 graduates. The Vice Chancellor outlined the distribution, including 490 Postgraduate Diplomas, 61 in Management, 86 Master of Business Administration degrees, 940 Master’s degrees, and 229 Doctorates. This signifies FUTA’s dedication to nurturing scholars at various stages of their academic journey.

The 33rd Convocation Ceremony, scheduled from November 16 to 18, promises to be a grand celebration of knowledge and achievement. Notably, the Convocation Lecture titled “Knowledge and Research: The Foundation of a Prosperous Economy” will be delivered by Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Honorable Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy. This event serves as a testament to FUTA’s commitment to advancing research and fostering a conducive academic environment.

Prof. Oladiji concluded by highlighting FUTA’s global aspirations, positioning itself as a world-class University of Technology and a Center of Excellence in Training, Research, and Service Delivery. The active collaborations with esteemed universities worldwide, coupled with the institution’s initiative to engage visiting professors and scholars from various parts of the world, affirm FUTA’s relentless pursuit of academic distinction on the global stage.currently we have collaboration with universities in USA, Uk, Germany, China Brazil, Malaysia, India and Ghana.However 19 scholars have been engaged, they are from the south Africa (6), Namibia (1) USA (1) Canada (2), Germany (1).
