Federal Government (FG) don bring new Examination Learners’ Identity Number, wey dem call ELIN, for all students wey dey write WAEC, NECO and other approved exams for Nigeria. Dis new number na part of big reform plan to fight exam m@lpractice and make sure say exams from 2026 go dey clean, fair and trusted across the country.
According to Federal Ministry of Education, ELIN go give every candidate one unique identity from secondary school till dem finish writing national exams. With dis system, government fit track students records well, reduce impersonation, and stop sharp practices wey don spoil exam credibility for many years.
Education ministers Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa and Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmed talk say ELIN no be just exam number, but long-term solution wey go strengthen transparency, accountability and proper data management for Nigeria education system.
No More Sharp Sharp Move — FG Ban SS3 Transfer, Tighten Exam Rules
As part of the new exam reform, Federal Government don also place strict ban on SS3 student transfers, especially close to exam period. Ministry talk say dis practice don dey help exam fraud and ELIN go make am easier to detect and block such moves.
Dem also introduce improved question randomization, wey mean say exam questions go dey shuffled better to stop cheating inside hall. Dis move go make sure say candidates no go see same question pattern, even inside same exam centre.
Officials explain say all dis measures na to protect hardworking students and restore confidence in Nigerian certificates, so say WAEC and NECO results fit stand anywhere for the world without doubt.
FG Fix New Continuous Assessment Dates to Protect Student Records
Federal Ministry of Education don also announce new fixed timeline for Continuous Assessment (CA) across schools nationwide. According to the guideline, CA records must be submitted three times every year — January, April and August — to avoid manipulation of scores.
The ministry say dis fixed schedule go stop last-minute changes to students records and ensure uniformity from one school to another. ELIN go also help link each CA score directly to the real student, making forgery almost impossible.
Government don call on state governments, schools, parents and students to cooperate fully with exam bodies and supervisors. Dem stress say only collective effort go ensure say Nigerian exams remain credible, fair and globally respected.
