Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji Approves N596m Loans for Teachers — But What About School Infrastructure?

Biodun Oyebanji, Governor of Ekiti State, has approved the disbursement of N596 million as car and housing loans for teachers across the state. The initiative is aimed at improving the welfare of teachers and motivating them to deliver more effectively in the classrooms.

Biodun Oyebanji explained that the loan scheme will cover teachers in both primary and secondary schools, reflecting his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector. He noted that teachers are the backbone of learning and deserve the best support possible.

Oyebanji assured that the loans would be released in phases to ensure transparency and accountability, with eligible teachers able to access either car loans or housing loans depending on their needs.

Biodun Oyebanji emphasized that no education system can rise above the quality of its teachers, stressing that investment in teachers’ welfare remains the surest way to improve learning outcomes in schools.

Oyebanji stated that the approval of the N596 million loan package is not only about financial assistance but also about reducing the daily struggles teachers face, especially in securing housing and transportation.
