A fierce rainstorm wreaked havoc on the communities of Omu and Ijelu Ekiti, situated in the Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State. The destructive storm, which struck on Sunday, left a trail of destruction, causing extensive damage to buildings and displacing over 100 residents. Among the structures severely affected were churches, educational institutions, and residential buildings, including the historic Palace of the Elejelu of Ijelu Ekiti, Oba Isaac Ajayi Adetoyinbo.

Expressing his sadness over the devastating impact of the rainstorm, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, conveyed his sympathy to the affected individuals and families. The Governor, represented by Deputy Governor Mrs Monisade Afuye, visited the affected areas on Tuesday to inspect the extent of the damage firsthand.
