The Ekiti State Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027, commending his transformative leadership and sweeping reforms. At the caucus meeting held in Iyin Ekiti on Friday, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, moved the motion for Tinubu’s endorsement, citing the President’s decisive economic and security reforms.
Adaramodu praised Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” noting that within just a year and a half, his policies had begun addressing the root causes of Nigeria’s long-standing economic and security challenges. “President Tinubu’s reforms are transformational, revitalising the economy and improving national security,” he declared. The senator, representing Ekiti South, dismissed opposition propaganda, insisting that APC remains the dominant political force heading into 2027.
Oyebanji’s Stewardship in Ekiti State Applauded
The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, moved the motion for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s endorsement for a second term, citing the governor’s “integrity, dedication, and deep commitment” to the people of Ekiti. According to Aribasoye, Oyebanji’s administration has recorded remarkable achievements across multiple sectors, including infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and security.
“Governor Oyebanji has shown he is a true servant of the people,” Aribasoye stated. “His outstanding leadership has resulted in visible progress across thepl state, and it is only fitting that we endorse him for a second term to continue the excellent work.” The Speaker’s motion received unanimous backing from the caucus, further cementing Oyebanji’s position as a strong favorite for the 2026 gubernatorial election.
Party Leaders Laud Performance, Unity
Earlier at the meeting, the State APC Chairman, Barrister Sola Elesin, commended Governor Oyebanji’s administration for ensuring that every town in Ekiti State benefited from government initiatives. These interventions include infrastructure projects, rural electrification, agricultural reforms, healthcare enhancements, and youth empowerment schemes.
Adding his voice, former Ekiti Governor and APC stalwart, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, praised Oyebanji’s humility and effective governance. “Governor Oyebanji has conveyed a deep sense of service to both the party and the people,” Fayemi said. “We must appreciate and support him for staying true to the progressive ideals of our party.” Their messages were echoed by other stakeholders who expressed satisfaction with the governor’s performance and commitment to unity within the party.
Oyebanji, Tinubu Express Gratitude
In his remarks, Governor Biodun Oyebanji expressed heartfelt gratitude to the party leaders and members for their overwhelming show of confidence in his leadership. He attributed his achievements to the collective efforts of his administration and the support he had received from President Tinubu, whom he described as a “visionary leader” creating an enabling environment for states to thrive.
Oyebanji assured the caucus that he would not rest on his oars, pledging to intensify efforts to deliver more people-oriented policies. He reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC’s progressive agenda, emphasizing that he remains committed to the sustained development of Ekiti State.
Full Support from Former Leaders
Also speaking, a former governor of Ekiti State and former Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, reinforced the caucus’ position, noting that Governor Oyebanji had earned widespread respect for his competence and results-driven governance.
“The caucus has made itself very clear. Governor Oyebanji has the full support of Ekiti APC to seek a second term,” Adebayo declared. “We are proud of what he has achieved so far, and we have no doubt that he will deliver even greater accomplishments in his next term.” With this endorsement, the APC in Ekiti has sent a clear signal of unity and continuity as both President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanj head towards future electoral contests.
