Internal Discipline: PDP Suspends Kaduna Secretary over Alleged Misconduct

The Kaduna State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the suspension of its State Secretary, Alhaji Adamu, over allegations of anti-party activities. The suspension, which took immediate effect, will last for one month pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

The decision was reached by the State Working Committee and subsequently ratified by the State Executive Committee during a meeting held on Monday at the party’s secretariat in Kaduna. According to a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Maria Dogo, the action was taken in line with Articles 58(1)(h) and 57(3) of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), which outline disciplinary measures for members found to have breached party regulations.

“The PDP wishes to assure its members and the general public that the party remains resolutely committed to upholding internal discipline, fairness, and justice under the able leadership of the State Chairman, Hon. Edward Masha,” the statement read.

Suspension to Last One Month Pending Investigation

The party noted that the suspension serves as a temporary measure while the disciplinary committee investigates the allegations leveled against Adamu. During the suspension period, he is barred from participating in any PDP activity at all levels — local, state, or national.

Party officials explained that the move underscores the leadership’s commitment to maintaining integrity within its ranks and ensuring that all members adhere to the principles and values of the PDP. The investigation, they said, would determine the final disciplinary action to be taken against the embattled secretary.

“The ongoing efforts of the State Working Committee are aimed at strengthening the party’s structures and ensuring accountability across all ranks,” Dogo added, emphasizing that no individual is above the rules and constitution of the PDP.

Commitment to PDP Unity and Accountability

Observers within the party see the development as part of a broader effort to restore unity and discipline ahead of upcoming political activities in the state. Kaduna PDP has faced internal challenges in recent months, with factions reportedly emerging over leadership and strategy differences.

Party insiders suggest that the leadership is now taking firm steps to curb indiscipline and present a united front capable of competing effectively in future elections. The suspension of Adamu, they noted, sends a clear message that anti-party behavior will not be tolerated regardless of position or seniority.

The Kaduna PDP leadership reiterated its commitment to transparency and due process, assuring members that the investigation into Adamu’s conduct will be handled fairly and in line with party regulations.
