Dangote Refinery has confirmed that it will redeploy disengaged workers to other companies within the Dangote Group after successful negotiations with the Federal Government and PENGASSAN. Dangote Refinery assured that the affected employees will retain their full salaries and benefits despite being moved to different subsidiaries under the conglomerate. Dangote emphasized that this decision was reached in the spirit of industrial peace and to safeguard the welfare of its workforce.
Dangote Refinery explained that the agreement followed two days of intense mediation led by senior government officials. Dangote acknowledged the active involvement of the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, and the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun. Dangote noted that the federal team provided the framework that balanced both the interests of the workers and the sustainability of refinery operations.
Dangote Refinery further stated that no worker would suffer financial hardship as a result of the redeployment exercise. Dangote clarified that the reassignments will be spread across its cement, sugar, and logistics divisions, thereby ensuring continuity of employment. Dangote described the move as a strategic adjustment that maintains stability in staffing levels while responding to operational needs.
Dangote Refinery Reaffirms Workers’ Rights and Union Freedom
Dangote Refinery declared that no employee will be victimised for participating in the recent industrial dispute. Dangote reassured its workforce that union membership and activities are protected under Nigerian labour laws and will continue to be respected. Dangote added that intimidation, harassment, or dismissal of staff over their role in unionism will not be tolerated.
Dangote underscored the importance of rebuilding trust between management and labour in order to restore stability within the refinery. Dangote stated that reaffirming the right to unionise is not only a legal obligation but also a commitment to fairness and corporate responsibility. Dangote Refinery confirmed that these assurances were part of the written resolutions signed during the negotiations.
