Chaos Burst for Onitsha: OCHA Brigade Wahala Leave Pregnant Woman, 3 Others for Ground

Na heavy gbege scatter for Onitsha Main Market, Emeka Offor Plaza side, as OCHA Brigade carry wahala enter the place on Tuesday, September 9. Instead make na ordinary market waka, na cry and panic full the air when dem gun begin sound like film. By the time dust settle, four people don kpai, wey one of dem na pregnant woman.

According to eyewitness wey still dey shake voice, wahala start when OCHA Brigade order traders make dem clear road and remove goods wey dey block. Na so argue begin. From argue e shift to shout, from shout e enter push, before anybody fit say “market close,” na gunshot begin fly left, right and center.

People wey leave house in the morning dey plan hustle, but dem no return. Traders dey wail, some dey vex, others dey fear. Everybody dey ask the same question – na so enforcement suppose be?

Onitsha Wahala:Who Be This OCHA Brigade Self?

For people wey no sabi, OCHA Brigade na government enforcement team for Anambra State. Dem say the group dey in charge of keeping environment clean, enforcing order, and making sure state dey shine well. But instead of broom and shovel, traders say wetin dem dey see na gun and uniform wey don turn like license for oppression.

Market people for onitsha dey para say instead of dem to dey arrange dirt and maintain order, dem don dey arrange bullet for innocent people. Traders wey see everything talk say OCHA don shift from enforcement to “fearforcement.”
One trader wey still dey shock yan say: “This thing na pure wickedness. Pregnant woman wey dey expect pikin don kpai for market. E pain me, e pain everybody. Na who we go trust again if na government give gun to people wey dey kill us?”

Onitsha Wahala:Silence from Above, Protest from Below

As the gbege dey hot, Governor and Police Command never talk one word. Na silence everywhere from the top, like say nothing happen. Traders no gree gree, dem carry placard, block road and shout for market say justice must show face.

The protest wey spark dey gain small momentum, because people dey fear say if nothing happen now, tomorrow fit worse. For Anambra, tension dey hang like thick cloud – everybody dey ask if government dey aware of the wahala wey dem agency dey cause.

Na so Onitsha traders dey reason: “If na pregnant woman fit kpai for market just like that, who safe again? Today na she, tomorrow fit be anybody.”
