The Adjutant General of the California National Guard (CNG), Major General Matthew Beevers, affirmed a renewed commitment to fortify the existing partnership between the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Californian National Guard in the ongoing fight against terrorism, not only in Nigeria but across Africa. During a courtesy visit to Headquarters NAF on December 6, 2023, Major General Beevers emphasized the pivotal role played by NAF as a critical strategic ally in the global fight against terrorism. He expressed CNG’s readiness to assist NAF in equipment acquisition and training, aiming to significantly bolster its effectiveness in ongoing counterinsurgency and counterterrorism operations.

Nigerian Air Force’s Dedication and Cooperation

In response to Major General Beevers’ commitment, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff (CAS), conveyed NAF’s unwavering dedication to combatting terrorists and criminal activities within Nigeria. He affirmed NAF’s openness to strengthen collaboration with the CNG and other strategic partners, aimed at addressing the threats posed by terrorism and insurgency within the country. This revitalized working relationship, according to Air Vice Marshal Sayo Olatunde representing the CAS, aligns with NAF’s commitment to enhanced strategic partnerships as emphasized in their Command Philosophy.
