Bullet Wahala: Na peaceful Monday night for Umuoba-Uratta, Owerri North LGA, but wahala dey hide for corner. Around 10pm, small baby wey dem call Emmanuel Eleweke, just 20 months old, collect stray bullet as e dey try sleep beside him mama. According to Madam Kelechi Eleweke, the mama of the pikin, dem don chop, pray and play small before the innocent boy finally lie down.

Mama Kelechi narrate say: “Na prayer I even dey pray make my husband no die young, and my pikin say ‘Amen’ loud. Next thing, e roll from my body enter bed, dey refuse sleep. Before I fit say ‘come here,’ I hear gboaa! and I feel something like sand land for my body.” Na then the baby begin shout “mummy! mummy!” – but when she look, na blood full everywhere.

Mama Kelechi rush carry the boy go outside call for help. Papa Okechukwu join the panic cruise and dem begin find hospital. Unfortunately, help no quick land – na Naija we dey, where hospital sometimes dey act like dem be police station.

As if stray bullet wahala no do the family enough, wahala double when dem reach private hospital. According to the mama, the man wey resemble doctor just glance the child, cross bandage round head and shout: “Una need police report!” Omo, na there hope begin fade like NEPA light during thunderstorm.

Despite all the beg-beg say, “Oga abeg save our son first,” the hospital man no gree touch the child well until dem go FMC Owerri. Madam Kelechi say she run go house go wear cloth while her husband carry the baby continue the race of life.

But by the time dem enter emergency paediatric ward, doctor just check and talk say: “Sorry, he don pass.” Na there heartbreak land officially.
