The incident occurred on the 21st of December, 2023, at approximately 21:18 local time. Tower T372, situated near Katsaita Village in Yobe State, was deliberately vandalized, leading to its collapse. The consequential damage brought down tower T373, exacerbating the disruption to the transmission line.
