ASUU Don Begin Two-Week Strike as Government Still Never Meet Their Demands

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) don start another two-week warning strike as government still never fulfill the agreement wey dem sign since. According to ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, the strike go affect all federal and state universities for Nigeria.

He talk say the decision come after many months of negotiation wey no bring any positive result. ASUU say government dey always talk but no dey act when e reach time to implement the agreements.

The union warn say if government no take this strike serious, dem go enter full-blown indefinite strike wey go paralyze the education sector completely.

ASUU Say Government Don Fail to Pay Outstanding Salaries and Revitalize Universities

Professor Osodeke talk say part of their wahala na the backlog of unpaid academic allowances and poor funding for university infrastructure. He explain say lecturers dey work under bad condition — no laboratory equipment, poor hostel, and classrooms wey don turn sauna.

ASUU accuse government say dem no dey value education like oil money, and na why Nigerian universities no fit compete globally. The union say the strike na the only language government dey understand.

According to them, the demands include payment of Earned Academic Allowances, adoption of UTAS payment system, and proper implementation of past agreements wey government don sign.

Students Don Vex as Strike Scatter Academic Calendar Again

Many students don express frustration as ASUU announce the two-week strike. For social media, some students dey complain say dem go soon turn old for school because of constant strike wahala.

Some parents too don beg government make dem quickly settle the matter before the strike spoil the semester. “Every year na same story — ASUU strike don become tradition,” one student lament.

Meanwhile, some education experts talk say the continuous strike don damage the reputation of Nigerian universities and affect graduates’ global competitiveness.
