ASUP Shout Say Polytechnic Education Don Suffer Neglect – Lecturers Cry ‘We No Fit Take Am Again’

Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) don raise alarm say government dey neglect polytechnic education for Nigeria. According to dem, the sector don turn like orphan wey nobody dey care for, despite say polytechnic dey produce key manpower for the country.

The union talk say many institutions dey face wahala like lack of funding, outdated facilities, poor salaries and zero motivation for lecturers. Some polytechnic students dey even learn with machines wey be like museum equipment.

One ASUP official joke say, “If dem carry you enter our engineering workshop, you go think say you enter National Theatre prop room.”

ASUP Complain Say Lecturers and Students Dey Suffer

ASUP don stress say polytechnic lecturers dey work under tough condition. Salaries dey owed for months, promotion dey delay, while research funding na story for another day. Many lecturers dey abandon research because even biro sef dey hard to buy.

Students sef no dey find am funny. Classrooms dey overcrowded, hostel dey fall apart, and labs no dey updated. One student yarn say, “Na theory we dey learn, practical no dey. Dem tell us about modern machines but na chalk drawing we dey see.”

The union warn say if government no act fast, polytechnic graduates go continue dey under-prepared for job market, and the sector go collapse like expired biscuit.

ASUP Give Government Final Warning

ASUP leaders don talk say their patience don finish, and dem no go fold hand again. According to dem, government must act sharp sharp to rescue polytechnic education before everything scatter.

Dem demand better funding, quick review of policies, improved welfare for lecturers, and modern facilities for students. If these things no happen, dem talk say strike fit enter again and this time e go long pass previous ones.

One Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics chairman talk say, “We no go tire to fight for poly education, because na the only way to save am. Government suppose treat us with respect, no be like second-hand education system.”
