Omokri Alleged Arise News TV of Fabrication
Arise News TV caught in a spat with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart Reno Omokri. The PDP man has thrown down the gauntlet to Arise News TV and Rufai Oseni, urging them to provide evidence of the subpoena in which Chicago State University allegedly refuted President Bola Tinubu’s educational achievements. The incident in question reportedly occurred during Omokri’s appearance on the August 25 channel in November 2022.
Omokri’s Revelations: Chicago State University’s Confirmed President Tinubu’s Academic Record
Omokri’s remarks were prompted by the recent release of an official document by Chicago State University, which attested before a US court that President Tinubu indeed held a record at the institution. In a tweet on the morning of August 25, Omokri chastised Arise News TV’s Rufai Oseni, asserting that during their conversation on November 22, 2022, Oseni had purportedly claimed that the university, via a subpoena, had discredited Tinubu’s status as a graduate of the institution.
However, the university’s stance took an unexpected turn on August 25, 2023, as revealed in a document acquired by Legit.ng. According to the document, President Tinubu’s attendance at the university was confirmed between 1977 and 1979, effectively dismissing any doubts about his academic journey at the institution.
Atiku Abubakar’s Quest: University Document Response to Presidential Academic History Request
The issuance of this university document was a response to a request put forth by the PDP and their presidential nominee from the February 25 election, Atiku Abubakar. This request, made within a US court, sought access to the President’s acceptance letter, attendance records, and other pertinent documents from his undergraduate tenure at the university. The institution expressed puzzlement over the relevance of Tinubu’s academic history to a foreign election challenge set for 2023.
In an earlier development, Omokri disclosed that he personally visited Chicago State University to verify President Tinubu’s graduation status, with the university affirming his successful completion of studies. Omokri subsequently called upon Arise News TV and Oseni to release the alleged subpoena in which they claimed the university had contradicted Tinubu’s graduation from the institution.
