Apc Condemns Rotimi Amaechi’s Call For Protests, Labels It Reckless And Unpatriotic

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a scathing statement condemning former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, for what it described as his reckless and unpatriotic remarks aimed at inciting protests over the rising cost of living in Nigeria. Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, released the statement, where he called Rotimi Amaechi’s comments insensitive and hypocritical, especially given his extensive political career and role in shaping the country’s current economic situation.

Morka stated that Amaechi’s criticism of Nigerian youth for not protesting the economic conditions reflects an alarming disconnect from the reality of governance. He accused Amaechi of seeking to stoke unrest while being one of the “highest-ranking political freeloaders” in Nigeria, having served in various top-tier government positions for over two decades.

Rotimi Amaechi’s Legacy in Government Under Scrutiny

In its statement, the APC did not hold back in its criticism of Amaechi’s political history. The party labeled him a “leechy dependant on state resources,” accusing him of benefiting greatly from public office without delivering tangible benefits to the citizens. The APC drew attention to Amaechi’s tenure as a two-term Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, two-term Governor, and two-term Minister of Transport, claiming he was a participant in the “generational devastation” of Nigeria’s economy.

The APC questioned Rotimi Amaechi’s apparent financial struggles despite his long career in public office, accusing him of hypocrisy for criticizing the current administration. The party further implied that Amaechi’s complaints are rooted in personal frustration at no longer being in power, rather than a genuine concern for the welfare of Nigerian citizens.

Accusations of Political Opportunism and Incitement

The APC’s statement framed Rotimi Amaechi’s recent remarks as a calculated attempt to incite chaos and gain political capital from the economic challenges facing the country. The party linked Amaechi with other prominent opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing them collectively as “naysayers” who are unhappy with their exclusion from the current government.

According to the APC, Rotimi Amaechi and his allies are seeking to provoke unrest and undermine President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration through inflammatory rhetoric and calls for protests. The party emphasized that the Nigerian electorate made a clear choice in the last election and would not be swayed by efforts to destabilize the country through street demonstrations.

APC Defends Tinubu’s Economic Reforms

In defending the current administration, the APC argued that the economic discomfort Nigerians are experiencing is a temporary consequence of necessary reforms. The party pointed out that while citizens may be facing hardships now, these sacrifices will eventually lead to long-term benefits as President Tinubu’s economic policies begin to take effect.

The APC urged Nigerians to remain patient and not be deceived by figures like Amaechi, who, the party claims, did little to improve the country during their time in office. Instead of protesting, the APC called on citizens to continue supporting the government’s efforts to transform Nigeria’s economy for the better.

Criticism of Rotimi’s Amaechi’s Governance Record in Rivers State

The APC also took aim at Rotimi’s Amaechi’s track record as Governor of Rivers State, accusing him of failing to address the state’s pressing challenges during his time in office. According to the APC, instead of working to resolve the ongoing crisis in Rivers State, Amaechi has chosen to meddle in national affairs by encouraging unrest.

The party described Rotimi’s Amaechi’s actions as politically motivated and irresponsible, stating that his call for protests exploits the economic difficulties faced by Nigerians for personal and partisan gain. The APC expressed disappointment that a figure of Rotimi Amaechi’s stature would choose to stoke division rather than contribute to finding solutions.

Call for National Unity and Patience

In its concluding remarks, the APC appealed to Nigerians to reject Rotimi’s Amaechi’s call for protests and remain united in the face of economic challenges. The party reiterated its support for President Tinubu’s efforts to enact reforms and urged citizens to be patient as the government works to deliver on its promises.

The APC warned that giving in to calls for anarchy would only serve the interests of those who seek to disrupt the country’s progress. It called on Nigerians to maintain their trust in the administration and focus on the long-term benefits that the ongoing reforms are expected to bring.
