APC Chairman Reaffirms 60/40 Leadership Formula to Strengthen Unity in Kano

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has reaffirmed the party’s 60/40 leadership-sharing formula in Kano State, describing it as a strategic move to consolidate power and deepen unity within the APC ranks.

Professor Yilwatda made the declaration on Monday during a courtesy visit to the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, where he commended the growing cohesion among APC members. The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Reinforcing Inclusiveness Through the 60/40 Formula Within APC Fold

During the meeting, Professor Yilwatda expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of APC leaders and supporters, describing it as a clear demonstration of unity, enthusiasm, and renewed commitment within the Kano APC fold. According to him, the atmosphere reflected a shared determination to strengthen the APC ahead of future political engagements.

He reiterated that the 60/40 leadership-sharing arrangement between new decampees and existing party members was carefully structured to promote fairness and inclusiveness. The formula, he explained, is intended to ensure that both longstanding members and recent entrants have meaningful participation in party leadership and governance activities.

“The 60/40 formula is about fairness and inclusivity,” he stated. “It ensures that both longstanding members and new entrants have a sense of belonging and responsibility in moving the All Progressives Congress forward.”

The chairman further noted that the renewed momentum within the APC Kano chapter would bolster support for President Bola Tinubu in the build-up to forthcoming general elections.

Calls for Unity and Strategic Collaboration

Professor Yilwatda also commended key party figures for prioritising unity over personal ambition. He praised Alhaji Yusuf Gawuna and Senator Barau Jibrin for aligning with the broader vision of strengthening the All Progressives Congress structure in Kano State.

In addition, he acknowledged the contributions of Abdullahi Ganduje, noting that his leadership had played a significant role in fostering growth and cohesion within the party in the state.

Responding, Governor Abba Yusuf expressed appreciation for the visit and the national leadership’s continued support. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace, unity, and collaboration among party stakeholders.

The governor further stated that his administration remains aligned with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that Kano All Progressives Congress members are prepared to work collectively to ensure the state’s development and political stability.
