Adeleke Praises Tinubu, Ribadu for Dismantling Terror Cells in Osun

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for what he described as a historic breakthrough in the fight against terrorism. Adeleke applauded the duo for their leadership in neutralising sleeping cells of a notorious terrorist organisation in Osun State, a move he said has restored confidence in the nation’s security system.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor particularly hailed the recent arrest of leaders of the Ansaru terrorist group, noting that the development represents “a major advancement in Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts.” Adeleke said the proactive approach of the federal government has strengthened Osun’s security architecture and further boosted its capacity to safeguard citizens.

According to him, the success recorded in Osun is a direct result of President Tinubu’s reformist agenda in the nation’s security sector and Ribadu’s effective coordination of the intelligence community.

Commendation for Security Chiefs and Intelligence Agencies

Governor Adeleke extended his appreciation to security chiefs across various formations for their commitment and professionalism in dismantling terrorist networks. He commended the Chief of Defence Staff, military service chiefs, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Inspector-General of Police, and the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), among others, for their roles in the success of recent operations.

Adeleke emphasized that the collaborative synergy between military intelligence, police operations, and paramilitary support was key to neutralising the terrorist sleeper cells operating in Osun. He revealed that his administration has been working closely with federal authorities, stressing that the combined efforts have led to greater intelligence gathering and rapid tactical responses.

He added that his personal visit to the DSS facility in the state gave him firsthand insight into the commitment of operatives who, according to him, “are working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure Osun remains safe and secure.”

Osun as a Beneficiary of Federal Security Reforms

The governor declared Osun a clear beneficiary of the federal security reforms being implemented under President Tinubu. He argued that the improved coordination between the Office of the National Security Adviser and the various security organs has produced tangible results in the state.

Adeleke pointed out that prior to the recent breakthroughs, security threats posed by terrorist sleeper cells were a looming concern for Osun residents. However, the swift dismantling of these networks, coupled with the arrest of their leaders, has helped dispel fears and bolstered citizens’ confidence in the government’s ability to protect them.

He further remarked that such successes across different counter-terrorism fronts highlight the strength of intelligence-driven security management, which should be sustained and continuously improved upon.

Adeleke Reiterates Support for Federal Security Initiatives

Reaffirming his administration’s readiness to cooperate with the federal government, Governor Adeleke pledged continuous support for national security initiatives. He noted that Osun State will keep providing intelligence inputs and logistical collaboration to complement the work of federal forces.

He stressed that the fight against terrorism requires shared responsibility between all levels of government, security agencies, and the citizenry. Adeleke called on residents of Osun to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and maintain trust in the government’s security strategies.

According to him, “security is a collective enterprise, and the protection of Osun citizens must remain the top priority for both the state and federal authorities.”

A Safer Osun Under Proactive Security Leadership

Governor Adeleke concluded by stressing that the dismantling of terrorist sleeper cells and the arrest of Ansaru leaders mark a turning point in Osun’s security landscape. He noted that the people of Osun now feel safer under the proactive and innovative security policies being driven by President Tinubu and coordinated by the NSA, Nuhu Ribadu.

He commended the courage of security operatives who risk their lives daily to protect citizens and urged that such momentum be sustained in order to dismantle other terror networks across the country. Adeleke expressed optimism that with continued vigilance and collaboration, Nigeria will consolidate the gains of these recent counter-terrorism operations.

“The federal government has shown commitment, the intelligence community has delivered results, and Osun is safer today because of their joint efforts. For that, we owe them our gratitude and support,” he concluded.
