Adekunle Gold: “I Can Be a Failed Musician, But Never a Failed Father

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold, has shared an emotional reflection on his values, revealing that family stands at the core of everything he does. The award-winning musician, who has continued to evolve both musically and personally, opened up about the importance of balancing fame with responsibility.

According to him, while his music career means a great deal, it can never come before his role as a husband and father. He emphasized that his family is his greatest source of motivation and strength, and that no level of success would ever be worth losing them for. “My family is my centre. I can afford to be a failed musician, but I can’t afford to be a failed father or a failed man. That’s not negotiable,” he said firmly.

Adekunle Gold, who is married to fellow singer Simi, said that marriage and fatherhood have transformed his mindset and shaped the way he approaches life and career decisions. He noted that being a family man has given him more focus, purpose, and discipline, qualities that have helped him remain grounded despite fame and success.

I Can Afford to Be a Failed Musician, Not a Failed Father” — Adekunle Gold Opens Up on Priorities

In his candid reflection, Adekunle Gold explained that while the entertainment industry can be unpredictable, he has learned to measure success differently. To him, success is not only about sold-out shows, hit records, or global recognition — it’s about integrity, stability, and being present for those who matter most.

He admitted that the pressures of fame can sometimes make artists lose their sense of balance, but he has made a conscious effort to keep his personal life sacred. The singer revealed that fatherhood has redefined his sense of responsibility, teaching him that the legacy he builds at home will outlive his fame. “Music will fade someday, but my name and the kind of father I am will remain,” he said.

Adekunle Gold added that being present for his wife and daughter, Adejare, brings him more fulfillment than any award or international tour. He stressed that the bond he shares with his family serves as both a grounding force and an inspiration behind many of his songs. For him, his greatest achievement is not just being loved by fans, but being respected by his loved ones.

Adekunle Gold on Legacy: “Being a Good Man Is the Real Success”

The singer also used the opportunity to address what he described as a growing cultural misunderstanding of success among men. He observed that many people, in their pursuit of fame and wealth, often forget the importance of building strong family values and emotional stability. Adekunle Gold said he is determined to break that pattern by being both a successful artist and a devoted family man.

He explained that the legacy he wants to leave behind is not just his music, but the example of living a balanced, principled life. “If I fail as a father, I’ve failed at everything,” he said, stressing that his greatest pride comes from seeing his family happy, not from material possessions. The singer encouraged men to prioritize emotional connection and moral responsibility over public perception.

Adekunle Gold concluded by saying that while he continues to push his craft and evolve as an artist, his biggest motivation will always be his family. He said his goal is to ensure that his daughter grows up knowing she was raised by a man who loved her mother, respected his home, and stayed true to his values no matter the fame or fortune.
