Wike Don Turn Tinubu’s Re-election to Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Matter

Tinubu’s re-election don apparently become one of the biggest things wey dey occupy FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s mind, after the former Rivers governor declared say whether he dey sleep or dey eat, the matter still dey there. But behind the funny image of politician carrying election matter enter dining table, there is a serious political calculation about Rivers State and the 2027 presidential contest.

Wike made the declaration on Monday during town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. He urged residents to support President Bola Tinubu and said he believes the President’s re-election in 2027 will be easier than the victory Tinubu recorded in 2023. Wike also appealed to voters to look beyond sentiment and consider what he described as federal appointments and developmental benefits received by Rivers State.

Tinubu’s Re-election Don Enter Wike’s Head, Even Food No Fit Distract Am

The latest declaration no be isolated statement. Wike don spend months making his support for Tinubu’s re-election one of his loudest political positions. In September, he announced plans to lead the President’s campaign machinery in both Rivers State and the FCT, showing that his support is moving beyond public endorsement into organised political mobilisation.

The minister has even attached personal consequences to the outcome. At the end of September, Wike said he would resign as FCT Minister if Tinubu loses the presidential election in both Rivers and the FCT. According to him, Rivers na his home while Abuja na where he works, so he cannot afford to lose both places for the President. With that kind commitment, Tinubu’s re-election for Wike don pass ordinary political slogan; e don become something wey he is publicly tying to his own political performance.

For social media people, the “I dey think about am when I sleep and eat” line naturally dey invite jokes. After all, Nigerian politicians usually get plenty things to think about, from meetings to appointments and elections. But underneath the comedy lies a clear message: Wike wants Nigerians, particularly Rivers voters, to understand that he is fully invested in Tinubu’s second-term project.

Tinubu’s Re-election: Wike Tells Rivers People to Forget Sentiment and Vote

Rivers State no be random location for this political conversation. During the 2023 presidential election, INEC-declared results showed Tinubu winning Rivers with 231,591 votes, ahead of Peter Obi’s 175,071 and Atiku Abubakar’s 88,468. Tinubu’s margin over Obi was 56,520 votes. Wike was governor at the time and had backed Tinubu despite remaining a member of PDP.

That history explains why Wike is confident enough to tell Rivers people that Tinubu’s re-election can be easier in 2027 than the 2023 contest. But political mathematics no be permanent landlord. Voters, alliances and candidates can change, and what happened in one election cannot automatically become a guarantee for another. The 2027 contest will therefore provide a fresh test of how much influence existing political structures and endorsements actually carry on election day.

The wider political environment is also shifting. Wike has maintained that his support for Tinubu does not prevent PDP from contesting other elections, while Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara has also publicly backed Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition. Wike has additionally spoken about building campaign structures across Rivers and Abuja.

INEC has officially scheduled the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while the governorship and State House of Assembly elections are scheduled for February 6. So the political clock is no longer hiding under the table; the countdown is already official.

The important thing for voters, however, remains bigger than Wike’s personal enthusiasm. Campaigners can promise victory, predict easier elections and organise massive rallies, but the final decision still belongs to Nigerians who will cast their ballots. For now, Wike has made his position unmistakable: Tinubu’s re-election is his political priority, and Rivers State is one of the places where he intends to prove that commitment. OGM News Pidgin go continue to monitor whether the political confidence wey dey sound sweet for campaign ground go also survive when Nigerians reach polling units.
