MAKURDI ATTACK: NDC CHAIRMAN DON DIE, QUESTIONS FULL GROUND AS POLICE SAY DEM NEVER GET REPORT

Makurdi Attack don enter another serious political-security wahala as Igbu Terhemen, chairman of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Fiidi Council Ward, Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State, reportedly die after alleged attack by unknown persons. According to reports, dem find am unconscious inside bush near him residence around NNPC Depot along Makurdi-Otukpo Road for early hours of Wednesday, after he reportedly comot house Tuesday evening to watch local football match for Kanshio area.

The matter get one particularly disturbing twist: while NDC people dey describe wetin happen as murder and dey demand urgent investigation, police say as at the time of reporting, the command never receive formal report about the incident. So, while the political temperature don rise, the exact circumstances behind Terhemen death still dey require proper police investigation before anybody fit confidently point finger at any suspect.

NDC CHAIRMAN’S LAST MOVEMENT RAISES QUESTIONS

According to information attributed to a friend of the deceased, Terhemen left home Tuesday evening to watch a local football match around Kanshio but did not return. Concern reportedly grew among family members and friends, who later started searching for him before he was discovered around 2am in a bush close to his residence. Reports say he was already unconscious and eventually died before he could receive medical attention.

The NDC said Terhemen was allegedly tied with rope and injected with substance suspected to be poisonous before he was abandoned. A friend also reportedly said a needle-like injury was noticed on his body, while his phone was said to have remained with him. These details are allegations surrounding the death, not findings yet established by a completed police or forensic investigation. For now, Makurdi Attack remain a case where plenty questions dey queue, while confirmed answers never show face.

BENUE POLITICS AND SECURITY PRESSURE

The NDC state leadership has condemned the death and called on security agencies to investigate, identify whoever may be responsible and bring the suspects before the law. The party described Terhemen as a committed member whose contribution to the party would be missed.

The timing also dey attract attention because Benue politics don already experience security-related tension recently. Earlier in September, NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi’s convoy was blocked by youths during a visit to the state; police later said 46 suspects were paraded in connection with the incident and warned against political intolerance as the 2027 election approaches. That earlier incident is separate from Terhemen’s death, and there is no established evidence in the reports reviewed linking the two events.

For this latest Makurdi Attack, the most important matter now na investigation—not social-media conclusion. If security agencies establish how Terhemen was attacked, whether anybody deliberately targeted am, and why, those facts go a long way toward separating evidence from speculation. OGM News Pidgin go continue to monitor the case as more confirmed information dey emerge.
