“I Am Staying Out of Politics” — Toyin Abraham Rejects Reported Inclusion in Lagos APC Campaign Council

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has made it clear that she is not looking for another political movie role, after her name appeared on a list of members of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress campaign council ahead of the 2027 elections.

Abraham reacted after the published campaign structure listed her under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate. Rather than picking up the imaginary campaign microphone, however, the actress said she was not a member of any campaign council and asked the public to disregard her reported inclusion.

Toyin Abraham Says Politics Is Not on Her Current Script

In an Instagram Story, Abraham wrote that she had already made her position known and was staying out of politics. She specifically asked the public to disregard the supposed inclusion of her name in any campaign committee.

The development comes with some history attached. Abraham publicly supported Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election and subsequently faced significant criticism and online backlash over that political position. Her latest statement, however, concerns her reported involvement in the current Lagos APC campaign structure.

Her Name Entered the List, But She Says She Didn’t Enter the Campaign

The published council list included Abraham alongside several entertainment personalities. Toke Benson-Awoyinka was listed as director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, with Jide Kosoko as co-director and Eniola Badmus as deputy director.

And so, just when social media was preparing to turn the celebrity list into another political entertainment episode, Toyin Abraham appeared to pull the emergency brake. Her message was straightforward: she does not consider herself a member of the campaign council and wants her reported inclusion disregarded.

The interesting twist is that reports say her name remained on the published council document despite her public rejection of the reported appointment. As of the latest reports, there has been no public explanation from the Lagos APC campaign council clarifying why her name appeared on the list.

For now, Toyin Abraham’s position is clear: the actress says she is staying out of politics, leaving the campaign council list with one very notable name that says it does not want to be on the cast.
