He also pointed to concerns about internal democracy, fairness and inclusiveness within the party, while insisting that leaving APC would not reduce his commitment to the people of Edu Constituency.

Odetundun, who represents Irepodun Constituency, similarly informed his APC ward chairman of his resignation. He said extensive consultations with stakeholders, supporters, associates and constituents helped shape his decision, alongside his assessment of recent political developments. The Kwara State House of Assembly’s official website confirms both Gideon and Odetundun as serving members representing Edu and Irepodun respectively.

KWARA 2027: Political Realignment Gets Louder

The Kwara 2027 political movement no be only about these two lawmakers. Their exits came shortly after Senator Saliu Mustapha, who represents Kwara Central, also resigned from APC and moved to PDP, where he secured the opposition party’s senatorial ticket. Twelve APC ward executives subsequently resigned and joined PDP after Mustapha’s move, showing that the latest Assembly resignations are happening inside a wider wave of political realignment.

While reports indicate that Gideon has picked the PDP nomination form to seek re-election in Edu Constituency, available reports on Odetundun confirm his resignation from APC but do not yet establish with the same certainty that he has picked a PDP ticket. Meanwhile, PDP has already been organising its own 2027 structure, including the emergence of Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu as its consensus governorship candidate.

For Kwara 2027, therefore, these resignations may be more than ordinary party-switching headlines. They fit into a developing contest in which candidates are calculating where they can secure tickets, retain political relevance and convince voters.
