Dr Zacch Adedeji, The Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, has described the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the “greatest gift” to Nigeria, particularly crediting the President’s decision to remove the petrol subsidy.
Adedeji argued that the subsidy removal, despite the economic difficulties it initially created for many Nigerians, was a necessary decision to protect the country’s finances and prevent potentially worse economic consequences in the future.
ADEDEJI DEFENDS TINUBU’S DECISION
Speaking on the administration’s economic reforms, Adedeji said Nigeria’s current situation must be considered in the context of what could have happened if the government had continued to fund the petrol subsidy.
He reportedly stated that without Tinubu’s decision to remove the subsidy, “only God knows where we would be now,” stressing the importance of the President’s willingness to take difficult economic decisions.
