Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has assured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force will remain professional, apolitical and impartial before, during and after the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
The IGP said the police would uphold their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property while ensuring that the electoral process is conducted in a peaceful, free and credible manner. He stressed that the force would not be influenced by political interests or pressure from any individual or group.
SECURITY MEASURES IN PLACE FOR OSUN POLL
Olatunji Disu disclosed that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place to guarantee a safe environment for voters, electoral officials, political parties and other stakeholders participating in the election.
He said the police are deploying intelligence-led operations, improved security strategies and collaboration with other security agencies to prevent violence, intimidation and other forms of electoral misconduct.
According to the IGP, the goal is to ensure that citizens can freely exercise their democratic rights without fear or interference.
POLICE WARNS ELECTORAL OFFENDERS
The police chief warned individuals and groups planning to disrupt the election that electoral offences would not be tolerated. He stated that anyone found engaging in violence, vote manipulation, intimidation or other illegal activities would face the full weight of the law.
Olatunji Disu urged political actors, supporters and residents of Osun State to conduct themselves peacefully and support efforts aimed at ensuring a credible electoral process.

The assurance from the Inspector-General of Police comes amid heightened political activities and public attention surrounding the Osun governorship election.
