The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has publicly reaffirmed his support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, stating emphatically that “he is our leader.” The declaration, made during a high-level meeting in Osogbo, signals a notable alignment of political interests within the South-West region despite ongoing governance challenges in the state.
Addressing cabinet members, special advisers, and senior government officials, Adeleke emphasised that his political stance remains unchanged, even amid the lingering crisis affecting local government administration in Osun. His remarks, conveyed through a statement issued by his spokesperson, reinforced his administration’s commitment to regional unity and strategic cooperation.
Adeleke Endorsement Rooted in Regional Loyalty and Political Continuity
Governor Adeleke clarified that his support for President Tinubu is not a recent development but one that dates back to his earlier political engagements within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to him, the endorsement reflects a broader commitment to the collective interests of the South-West, rather than narrow partisan considerations.
He described President Tinubu as a unifying figure for the region, stressing that the president’s leadership carries significant weight in shaping political and economic outcomes across the South-West. “We have no problem with President Tinubu. He is our leader,” Adeleke stated, reaffirming his administration’s willingness to collaborate at the federal level.
The Governor Adeleke further noted that regional solidarity remains critical in navigating Nigeria’s complex political landscape. By aligning with the president, Adeleke suggested that Osun State stands to benefit from strengthened cooperation and policy alignment with the federal government.
Governor Adeleke Assurance of Governance Delivery Amid Political Dynamics
While addressing political developments, Adeleke also used the opportunity to reassure residents of Osun State of his administration’s commitment to governance and service delivery. He pledged continued focus on policies aimed at improving the welfare of citizens, particularly youths, women, and workers.
The Governor Adeleke outlined key priority areas, including infrastructure development, agro-industrialisation, education, and healthcare. He emphasised that these sectors would remain central to his administration’s agenda, with the aim of delivering tangible democratic dividends to the people.
In addition, Adeleke acknowledged the growing support base of the Accord Party (AP), describing its expansion as evidence of increasing public confidence in his leadership. He encouraged stakeholders to sustain this momentum through active participation and engagement at all levels.
Grassroots Mobilisation and Political Strategy Ahead of 2027
As part of preparations for future political contests, the governor directed party officials to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts across the state. He specifically called for comprehensive membership registration and voter engagement initiatives in all 332 wards of Osun State.
This directive underscores a broader strategy aimed at consolidating political influence and strengthening organisational structures ahead of the 2027 general elections. Analysts suggest that such mobilisation efforts could play a decisive role in shaping electoral outcomes in the state.
By combining governance delivery with strategic political planning, Ademola appears to be positioning both his administration and political allies for sustained relevance in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
