APC Fixes March 2026 for National Convention, Unveils Detailed Congress Timetable

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed March 2026 for its national convention, unveiling a comprehensive timetable that outlines a nationwide sequence of ward, local government, state and zonal congresses. The schedule, which spans several months, is designed to guide the election of party officials at all levels and set the organisational framework ahead of future electoral activities.

The timetable was released on Saturday by the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, through his verified X (formerly Twitter) account. According to the APC, the exercise is being conducted in line with the provisions of Articles 11 and 17 of the APC Constitution and is intended to strengthen internal democracy within the ruling party.

APC Nationwide Congresses to Begin with Membership Registration

The process will commence with a nationwide membership e-registration exercise scheduled to begin on Monday, December 1, 2025, and conclude on January 30, 2026. APC officials say the registration period is expected to update the party’s membership database and provide the foundation for subsequent congresses.

Ward congresses are slated for Wednesday, February 18, 2026, with appeals arising from the exercise to be heard the following day, February 19. These congresses will form the first major electoral stage of the process, as members at the grassroots level select their representatives.

At the local government level, congresses are scheduled for February 20, 2026. These will include the election of three delegates to the national convention, with the timetable specifying that at least one of the delegates must be female. Appeals from the local government congresses are expected to be handled on February 21.

State and Zonal Congresses Set for March 2026

According to the timetable, activities at the state level will include the purchase of forms for state executive positions, scheduled from February 23 to February 27, as stated in the document released by the party. Screening and appeals for state executive aspirants are planned for late February and early March 2026.

State congresses across the federation are fixed for Saturday, March 7, 2026. Appeals arising from the state congresses will be entertained between March 9 and March 11, allowing the party to resolve disputes before proceeding to the zonal level.

Zonal activities will begin with the purchase and submission of forms for zonal congresses and the national convention between March 12 and March 17, 2026. The inauguration of zonal congress committees is scheduled for March 18, followed by the screening of aspirants on March 19 and 20.

APC National Convention to Hold Over Four Days

Zonal congresses across the six geopolitical zones will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, with appeals expected to be heard on March 23. The designated zonal offices include Ibadan for the South West, Enugu for the South East, Rivers or Cross River for the South South, Kaduna for the North West, Gombe or Bauchi for the North East, and Nasarawa for the North Central.

The timetable indicates that the APC National Convention will be held from Wednesday, March 25, to Saturday, March 28, 2026. The convention will serve as the culmination of the congress process, bringing together delegates elected from across the country.

APC Party officials say the structured timeline is aimed at ensuring transparency, inclusiveness and orderly conduct throughout the congresses, as the APC prepares for its next phase of internal leadership selection.
