NAFDAC Say “No Be Play Play” — Small Alcohol Sachet and Mini Bottle Don Face Final Ban from January 2026

Omo! NAFDAC don finally talk say all those pocket-sized alcohol drinks wey dey waka up and down for street go pack their load by December 2025. Starting from January 2026, any alcohol wey small pass 200 millilitres — whether na sachet or mini bottle — don collect red card.
Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the DG of NAFDAC, no leave anybody guess-work. She talk say the deadline no be joke, no shifting, no extension, no “Abeg ma, give us small time.” She warn all manufacturers, distributors, and bar people make dem use this remaining time pack well.

The agency talk say the plan no be to punish anybody, but to protect the youth dem wey don dey see these small bottles like soft drink. “We dey do this one because of our pikin dem,” she yarn. “If we no stop am now, na our future we dey pour inside bottle.”

Why the Ban? To Save Pikin, Prevent Wahala, and Stop Drunk Shakara

According to NAFDAC, the thing wey dey pain pass be say these small alcohol drinks cheap and easy to hide. So, small pikin fit just buy am like pure water — before you shout “Kai!”, e don turn regular drinker.
Prof. Adeyeye point say this kain alcohol dey cause plenty kasala for society — from road accident, domestic gbege, school dropout, to street insecurity. She even add small gbas gbos: “We no go allow short-term money spoil the long-term health of this country. This ban na protection, no be punishment.”

The Senate and the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare sef don join body with NAFDAC for this mission. Dem talk say if Nigeria no control the way alcohol dey enter body, e go be like we dey pour petrol for small fire — e go soon burn everywhere.

“Na Everybody Matter” — NAFDAC Beg Nigerians to Join Body for the Fight

Prof. Adeyeye come talk say this ban no be only NAFDAC work o, na everybody matter. She beg Nigerians make dem help guard their children and community. “If we allow underage drinking continue, we dey raise future wey go stagger,” she talk.
She still remind people say the plan follow World Health Organization (WHO) guideline to reduce alcohol wahala worldwide. Na global move, no be local show.

In her words: “This decision base on science and public health, no be on vibes. We dey protect the next generation — the people wey go carry this country forward.” She conclude with one serious reminder: “Make we no trade our children health for small bottle profit.”
