The Nigerian Army, under the helm of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC NA), celebrated a momentous occasion on December 5, 2023, honoring 35 officers for their outstanding academic performance in the year’s examinations. Held at the Headquarters TRADOC Officers’ Mess in Minna, Niger State, the event drew distinguished figures, including Major General SG Mohammed, representing Chief of Army Staff Lt General TA Lagbaja.
The merit awards covered a spectrum of achievements, embracing excellence across several examinations conducted by TRADOC NA in 2023. Categories included the prestigious Chief of Army Staff Commendation Award for Excellence, recognition for performance in Lieutenant-Captain Practical Promotion Examination (LCPPE), acknowledgments for Best Candidates per Subject, and Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE), alongside honors for the Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination (SSCQE), among others.

The Special Guest of Honour’s representative lauded the Commander TRADOC NA, Major General KO Aligbe, for fostering a culture of healthy competition, instilling a mindset conducive to robust academic pursuits among the officers. He underscored how these awards align with the COAS’s vision to elevate the Nigerian Army into a proficient, well-equipped, and motivated force, dedicated to fulfilling constitutional responsibilities within a joint operational environment. These accolades, he emphasized, are pivotal in nurturing a diligent work ethic, promoting professionalism, and setting high benchmarks within the Nigerian Army.

Expressing gratitude, the COAS commended the TRADOC Commander for fortifying the institution’s foundation, consistently striving for excellence. He extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander in Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, for providing strategic guidance and essential resources to bolster the Nigerian Army’s mandate.
TRADOC’s Vision and Projects: Major General Kevin Aligbe, in his welcome address, highlighted the award’s essence: acknowledging excellence as a fundamental catalyst for success. The event’s apex featured the presentation of awards and mementos to dignitaries gracing the occasion, including former Commanders of TRADOC NA, Corps Commanders, principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters, Departmental Chiefs of TRADOC NA, Director General Voice of Nigeria (VON) – Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, and Heads of Security Agencies in Niger State. A significant highlight was the commissioning of substantial projects at Minna Military Cantonment by the Chief of Army Staff’s representative, underscoring the commitment to growth and development within the Nigerian Army.
