Ekiti Poll: Okpebholo Predicts Easy Victory for Oyebanji, Hails Governor’s Performance

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed confidence that Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, will have little difficulty securing re-election in the June 20, 2026 governorship poll, citing his impressive record of achievements over the past three years.

Okpebholo made this remark on Wednesday in Ikere Ekiti while inaugurating the Ikere–Igbara Odo Road and a farm dormitory built by the Oyebanji administration. The inauguration formed part of activities marking the governor’s third anniversary in office.

The Edo governor, who joined Oyebanji on Tuesday for an inspection tour of ongoing projects, including the Okeyinmi flyover and an 80-bed multi-purpose medical facility at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, said he was impressed by the quality and scope of work, as well as the public enthusiasm for the governor’s leadership.

You Don’t Need to Campaign Much,” Says Okpebholo

Governor Okpebholo, speaking glowingly of Oyebanji’s popularity, stated that the Ekiti leader’s performance had earned him strong grassroots support across the state.

“Mr Governor, my dear brother and friend, you have done well,” Okpebholo said. “I came into Ekiti and started hearing ‘BAO’ everywhere, and this showed that your people truly appreciate your efforts. I believe you won’t need much campaign or stress to win the coming election.”

He added that the governor’s projects and people-oriented policies had left lasting impressions. “When I was addressing my people in Edo State, I said I promised President Bola Tinubu 2.5 million votes for the 2027 presidential election. With what I have seen in Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji may likely surpass that record,” he said.

Okpebholo congratulated Oyebanji and the people of Ekiti for what he described as visible and impactful governance, commending the administration’s ability to complete key infrastructure within a short period.

Oyebanji Pledges Continued Service and Economic Growth

In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji said the newly inaugurated road and agricultural facilities were strategic to Ekiti’s long-term economic goals. He noted that the projects would expand the state’s food production capacity and create new opportunities for trade and investment.

“The Ikere–Igbara Odo Road will open up this corridor for commercial activities while enhancing security and connectivity across the region,” he said. “We promise that we will continue to serve you well and deliver more projects that improve lives.”

Oyebanji also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support, noting that the administration’s recent economic reforms had made more resources available to states. According to him, the impact of those policies is already visible in improved infrastructure and better living conditions for citizens.

The Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti and Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Adejimi Adu-Alagbado, commended Oyebanji for his commitment to the development of the state. He noted that the governor’s passion for project delivery had not only transformed Ekiti’s landscape but also boosted investor confidence and industrial growth.
