Kano State Govment don warn traditional title holders and developers wey get abandoned or uncompleted city projects say dem get till December 2025 to complete am or risk losing everything.
The Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning talk say many of these developers don collect land for years but never finish or even start serious work. E talk say the government no go gree make empty land waste while housing shortage still dey hit citizens.
According to the Commissioner, the aim na to make sure all allocated lands dey used well and contribute to urban growth instead of turning Kano into dumping ground of abandoned sites.
Kano State Govment Say Enough Is Enough – Uncompleted Cities Must Go
Govment officials don storm some of the uncompleted city sites for inspection, including Bichi, Gidan Maza, and Kwankwasiyya areas. Dem discover say most developers just fence land and disappear without any plan to develop.
The Commissioner vow say the new order no be play — if anybody no complete him project by December, the state go revoke the land and give am to serious investors.
He add say the state dey ready to partner with genuine developers to speed up urban renewal projects wey go bring progress and employment for the people.
Traditional Rulers and Land Owners Beg for More Time
Some traditional title holders don appeal to the Kano State Govment make dem extend the December deadline, saying the economy and high cost of materials slow down construction.
One district head talk say, “We no abandon the project o, na the economic wahala hold us small, but we go complete am before year end.”
But the Commissioner stand firm, say only completed projects go save titles — no excuse go stand. “Kano must move forward,” he conclude.
