Serious gbege don happen for Owode Onirin Market area of Lagos State as traders storm road to protest the killing of seven of their members. The angry traders carry placards wey get messages like “Stop Killing Innocent Traders!” and “We Need Justice Now!”
According to eyewitness report, the wahala start early morning when traders gather in front of the Owode Onirin market gate shouting and blocking major road. Traffic jam choke everywhere as motorists struggle to pass the Mile 12–Ikorodu axis.
Police officers later arrive the scene to control the situation and beg the traders make dem calm down. But some protesters no gree as dem continue to shout say government must hear their cry this time.
Owode Onirin Traders Accuse Security Operatives of Shooting Innocent People
The protesters talk say the seven people wey die no be thieves or hoodlums but hardworking traders wey dey sell spare parts for the market. According to dem, the victims die during one late-night operation wey security men allegedly carry out inside the area.
One of the eyewitnesses talk say, “Dem just come in the night, start to shoot anyhow. Before morning, seven people don die — including one young boy wey just open shop.”
The traders accuse the security team of using excessive force and demand for justice from both Lagos State Government and the police headquarters. Dem say if the killers no face punishment, dem go continue their protest until justice show face.
Police and Lagos State Government Promise Full Investigation
The Lagos State Police Command don react to the matter, confirming say dem don start investigation to find out who really cause the killings. The police spokesperson talk say dem go bring anybody wey get hand inside the attack to justice.
He also promise say the investigation go be transparent and open so that the families of the victims go get closure. The spokesperson add say police no dey support brutality of any kind, and the matter go reach court if necessary.
Meanwhile, Lagos State Government don beg the traders make dem maintain peace and allow security agencies do their work. The government promise to support the victims’ families and also review night security operations for the market area to avoid another tragic incident.
